Thank You

I just realised that i didn't thank everyone who wished me well while I was away. I really did appreciate it and I want to thank you. So thank you. For those who showed concern there was nothing wrong. As I said in my first post here I just needed time away.

Thanks for the welcome back Von.

Hi Karen,

Good to see you back suitably recharged...

I can probably guess which couple of episodes of “Torchwood” you could’ve done without! “Countrycide” and “Combat” perhaps? Whereas “Out of Time” was a beautiful episode. I noticed the ones written by Cath Tregenna had a degree of sensitivity towards the human condition while the ones written by Chris Chibnall were gratuitously violent. Perhaps that says something about the differences between men and women? Murray Melvin was good in the last two episodes, conjuring up the devil, John Normington’s little cameo in episode three was a treat and I liked Daniela Denby-Ashe’s episode, though undoubtedly for the wrong reasons.

None of “Torchwood” held together, of course. What happened to the UFOs over the Taj Mahal? What about all the illnesses let through the rift?!! Even if the carriers were returned to their rightful places in time, what about those they infected? Lot of old nonsense really and should’ve been better thought through if you’re going to spend lots of money making a television series! I enjoyed it more than series two of “Doctor Who” though, save the black hole episodes, which as you so rightly point out seems geared towards children, more so than the classic series ever was. Or, were children more discerning/better educated back then, expecting a higher standard from their drama?

Hello Karen. Welcome back. I really missed reading your blog entries, especially regarding the books you were reading, and the tv shows that you watched. The snowman stocking turned out fantastic didn't it. I love the bright colours on it. And the little birds on your current project are adorable. I can't remember, did you finish Bugs? Look forward to reading your blog again. Oh, and Best Wishes for the New Year. Cheers Judy

Hi Karen!
So I turn my back to finish some cross stitched gift and you choose this very moment to come back and I miss your return! I am so disappointed! lol I guess we can't call it a miss if it's just a few days...
Welcome back! You have no idea how much I have missed you! First of all, thank you for the loveliest crafty card (sorry, I lack vocabulary) I have ever received! It is filled with wonders! I'm using the bookmark in Jasper Fforde's "Lost in a good book". I am enjoying it even more than "The Eyre affair". I have read "We need to talk about Kevin" and -of course- it is now part of my life somehow. I often think of it, refer to it and all. You had to dare writing this, and I am a definite fan. Have you tried any other book by Lionel Shriver?
I am very happy that you have decided to keep writing about books and I will refer to this for when I go back to Britain next April...
Seeing your -almost finished- snowmen's sock made me smile as I have thought of it a few times... The sitting pretty is such a lovely project! These heritage Stitchcraft designs are really pleasant to stitch with the challenging different stitches. Your grandma will certainly be thrilled to bits!
I have had lots of email problems so I've lost your addy and mine doesn't work anymore. If you wish to write to me, I have a gmail address now! lilanduyt arrowbase gmail dot com
I think that's all for now? I might have forgotten a few things but we have some time to fill in the gaps!
Lots of hugs!
Lili

Hi Karen - good to see you back. I have been away from the blogging world for a few months also.
Interesting observations about Torchwood! I watched it avidly but I agree with what you say about it seeming like an bunch of ameteur alien hunters. I did enjoy most of the episodes but it lacked continuity for me, there is room for improvement, I will be back for more if they decide to make another series.
